It has been a long time since my last "proof of life post". The island nation of Western Australia finally opened the borders after 976 days of hard border. If you haven't read about it, what that means is that people (relatives, partners, significant others and others in other relationships) could not be together without a legal reason to come into the state and people within the state could leave but may not be allowed back in! Quarantining, lockdowns and isolations were the order of the day!

It wasn't all bad as we had no deaths until we recently opened the border and Omicron crept in with it's gossamer wings and deadly intent.

Sorry about the doom and gloom but it did help the population of WA survive with very few cases, deaths and no more crowding in the hospitals than usual!

Any way I am back and I hopefully won't p*ss too many people for however long I will be here!

I have just experienced the weirdest ANZAC* Day ever! Instead of gathering at the R.S.L.** then marching through town to the memorial, then having a Dawn Service (followed by a gunfire breakfast***), my neighbours and my family stood in our driveways in silence as we listened to the Dawn Service on our phones. The strangest part was the Police car which drove slowly down the road to check that everyone was socially distant from each other.

Normally, we would march through town, soldiers, ex soldiers, veterans, and other services (fire, police, ambulance) in a long parade to the War Memorial in town and then retire to the R.S.L. for a gunfire breakfast and camaraderie. Usually followed by (a lot of) beers and lots of stories.

I was heartened though to see a lot of my neighbours out in there (socially distanced) driveways at 5:30 a.m. listening to the service. We even stopped after the service and discussed our families and how they were faring in todays Brave New World.

It was weird but it was also memorable.

Unfortunately, it was the first anniversary of my father passing! We had his first birthday after his passing in October, then the anniversary of our family reunion a couple of weeks before he passed, then Friday was the date that he passed. Anyway, we celebrated his memory and had a lot of liquid nourishment. So hopefully I can now concentrate on finishing off some of my old stories! Or start some new ones!

Thanks for watching!

I have finally gotten over my jet lag from ~35 hours straight travelling from Colorado Springs to Perth (via Denver, Dallas and Sydney). I have thousands of pictures from Hawaii, Dallas, Colorado (Colorado National Monument, Rocky Mountain National Park, Canyon Lands, the Arches, Mesa Verde, the Garden of the Gods, Islands in the Sky and much more!). So prepare to be bombarded with thousands of pictures of canyons, rocks, mesas, cliff and other exciting stuff!?!?!?!?

I went to a Chuck Wagon in Colorado Springs, I asked someone where the bar was and they looked at me like I was mentally impaired and answered "there's no bar, they're Christians". I was taken aback a bit and decided to bite my tongue - I didn't know Christians didn't drink! Mind you the meal and entertainment were great, so it ended up being a good night!

Well! Things went really well in Hawaii! Lovely weather! The conference went well ... and ... funnily enough - the beer tasted great! The problem came when we left Oahu to fly to Dallas, 7 hours flying, 6 hours in Dallas airport, then 2 hours to Denver, 1 hour and $120 Aus in a taxi to the Hotel! I was all kinds of tired and didn't sleep well at all! However, we went to a Boutique Brewery close by and I managed to drown my sorrows!

Looking forward to getting home and adding more "art" to my pages!

Bonus points for telling me the name of the song in the title (The last word "Lost!" wouldn't fit in the title) without googling it!

I may even do a one off for whoever gets it right first! Tell me if you had to Google it - I don't mind! ;)
